Position Details
THE ROLE
The Communication Officer contributes to the development, delivery and evaluation of the department's communication strategies and activities including the production of printed and online materials, multimedia and events.
Reporting to the Manager, Veterans, Carers, Volunteers and Inclusive Communities, the Communications Officer is a key member of the Strategic Communications team in the Public Engagement Branch and works collaboratively with other staff in the branch to support portfolio priorities.
The Strategic Communications team leads and delivers strategic communications for priority projects and key programs, policies and State Budget initiatives and play a key coordination role across the Public Engagement branch. You will work with the digital, social, corporate, creative, media and Ministerial events and advertising teams to create materials and facilitate information sharing between policy and communications teams.
Working independently and in the broader team, you will build relationships with business and program areas and across the Public Engagement branch.
As appropriate, you may also be required to provide support to other teams across the Branch as and when required, including participating in out of hours media and emergency rosters, providing support for public emergencies, large-scale communications campaigns and other high priority projects, to contribute the effective management of work across the Public Engagement branch and department.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Under direction assist in the development, delivery and evaluation of communication strategies and activities including production of print, online and multimedia materials and delivery of departmental events.
- Provide communications advice and work collaboratively across the department to ensure the delivery of effective communications that are of a high written and visual standard and which comply with departmental and whole-of-Victorian Government guidelines.
- Under supervision, work with suppliers and contractors and assist in the successful delivery of communications products and projects in relation to standards, budgetary outcomes, stakeholder expectations and client needs.
