  • Based at the historic Immigration Museum

  • Part Time (3 Days Per Week); Ongoing

  • $53,502 + 9% Super paid pro rata

An exciting opportunity is available for a Public Relations Officer at Museum Victoria. The purpose of this position is to maintain a high profile for Museum Victoria’s museums and activities across a broad range of media and in the wider community.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This position is accountable for the development and implementation of public relations programs and publicity strategies which enhance the reputation and positive awareness of Museum Victoria among target audiences.

While this role has a primary responsibility for the Immigration Museum, it works within a networked organisation and is expected to contribute across museums and projects as required.

Notable skill sets required for this position include:

  • Proven experience and knowledge of the arts, community and news media, both nationally and locally.

  • Proven results working with emerging communication channels such as social media and online.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with particular emphasis on communicating with the media.

  • Experience developing internal and external networks with stakeholder groups.

  • An understanding of how to manage culturally sensitive materials in a diplomatic and sensitive manner.

  • Ability to work to many competing deadlines.
