Position Details

The Medical Directorate oversees the strategic direction for pre-hospital clinical care in Ambulance Victoria (AV). To support this function, we develop and coordinate the publication of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs), work instructions and other procedures for AV's clinical user groups (predominantly paramedics but also including retrieval doctors and nurses, triage practitioners, first responders and others). As well as being a professional reference tool, these publications set the standard of clinical care as expected by AV and our stakeholders.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Clinical Practice Guidelines, the responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the development and maintenance of Ambulance Victoria's (AV's) clinical practice standards, protocols, guidelines and instructions for ALS, MICA, Flight and Volunteer practitioners using best practice principles to ensure the safe clinical care with a strong focus on evidence based care and continuous improvement
  • Provide reports including evidence summaries and recommendations to the Medical Advisory Committee regarding AV clinical practice
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to inform paramedics of clinical practice changes
  • Represent Medical Directorate on related committees, providing specialist input and recommendations.

Please refer to the position description for the full responsibilities and requirements of this position.
