Ambulance Victoria is seeking a suitably experienced professional for the position of Director, Office of the Chief Executive. The key purpose of this role will be to lead and manage all aspects of work and relevant output within the Office of the Chief Executive. Underpinning responsibilities include exercising mature and strategic thinking, strategy, stakeholder management, risk management, communications, data driven decision making and policy knowledge to support the delivery of high-quality and modern ambulance services to the Victorian community. 

Based at our Doncaster headquarters with hybrid arrangements available, this full time, permanent position will play a pivotal part in bringing our values of Care, Accountable, Respect and Excellence to life at AV. 

About the role 

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Be a leading point of professional expertise by identifying and actively advising on strategic and operational risk, impacts, and critical initiatives,
  • Enable and contribute to executive operations by recommending actions on topical issues and influencing key priorities for Chief Executive focus,
  • Exercise authority across complex, technical, or sensitive organisation-wide programs involving strategy development, execution and evaluation,
  • Establish an integrated perspective of strategic deliverables evidenced by data analysis and draft key documents for executive, board and government to provide insight and informed decision making,
  • Enact high level delegations and provide reliable strategic and expert advice in relation to complex, contentious or sensitive activities, considering political, social, operational, commercial, and industrial factors and impacts,
  • Make significant contributions to stakeholder engagement by shaping, promoting and maintaining key relationships and partnerships beyond AV that support deliverables in times of change,
  • Partner with organisational leaders to facilitate highly effective, professional and constructive senior and executive management engagement. 

About you 

To be successful in this position, you will be a critical thinker and have a clear concept of what is required for a health service organisation to succeed, supported by a contemporary knowledge of emergency services or health care sector operations.  Additionally, you will possess: 

  • Completion of relevant degree and postgraduate qualification or associated industry certification with high level of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training & sound experience in business, economics, education, health or public administration,
  • Contemporary knowledge of modern healthcare with high level experience in application of policy, regulatory, and/or legislative processes impacting health care issues and state-wide operations,
  • Be astute in government and non-government health or emergency services dealings with a deep understanding of economic, demographic, political and legislative trends,
  • Strong negotiation and collaboration skills with significant experience in strategic change management, planning and broad communications,
  • Capability for high level participation in senior, professional networks with a broad understanding of wide scale health or emergency service delivery to the Victorian community,
  • High level professional communication capabilities, business writing and presentation skills.

This position is graded at AV7 under the Ambulance Victoria (Management and Administrative Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2021. Hybrid working options are available however it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Doncaster headquarters.
