At Ambulance Victoria (AV) we are proud to share our commitment to save and improve lives by providing outstanding care for our patients. This is our promise to every patient, and it sits at the heart of everything we do. No matter what corporate or support role you play in delivering our critical services to Victorians, you will join a team dedicated to bringing our vision to be a world leading ambulance service to life.

We are seeking an Executive Advisor to provide effective and strategic generalist advice, governance and support to the Executive Director, People & Culture and leadership team. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at Doncaster in line with our hybrid working model.

About the role

Reporting to the Executive Director People & Culture, this role will provide high level executive and project support to expert HR advisory services, project management and participation in key people programs with the aim of maximising the division's strategic, business, and operational success. Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Actively manage critical activities, projects and programs of work on behalf of the Executive Director, collating and evaluating relevant input from key stakeholders and providing professional and thorough briefings in a timely manner
  • Manage escalated divisional enquiries, cases or issues providing an evaluation overlay and risk assessment for P&C executive action
  • Provide recommendations on emergent issues directly to the Executive Director and ensure that the interests of AV are appropriately addressed
  • Prepare high level, professional briefing materials, reports, and audit and risk submissions, often of a complex or sensitive nature by applying critical analysis, evidence and recommendations that provide options for executive, senior management or committee decision
  • Build a broad and robust network and lasting partnerships with senior management, stakeholders and colleagues across and external to AV whilst creating an environment in which the ED's office is approachable, professional, constructive, and highly effective

About you

To be considered for this position, you will have completed a postgraduate degree (HR, Business or Project Management) with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and extensive relevant experience. Other requirements include (not limited to):

  • Experience providing expert advice on complex issues across senior levels of a large and diverse organisation (healthcare or public service/sector highly desirable)
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills to enable the identification of issues and the judgement to determine appropriate courses of action for achieving HR goals
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and business writing skills with the ability to influence and brief high-level stakeholders in a variety of forums
  • The capacity to make sound decisions under pressure and gain the acceptance and support of ideas and cooperation of others

Working at Ambulance Victoria

As a valued member of AV you will enjoy a professional working environment that recognises the importance of work/life balance. We offer salary packaging options, generous personal leave entitlements, accrued days off for full time roles, and other benefits including free on-site parking.

We believe our people are our greatest resource and the sustainability of our workforce depends on how well we utilise our people's skills and abilities and whether our staffing reflects the diversity of the Victorian community.  If you are ready to be an integral part in bringing our values of Care, Accountability, Respect and Excellence to life at AV, we want to hear from you!
