We are seeking an Advisor Media to provide exceptional proactive and reactive media expertise within our External Affairs department. This ongoing full-time position is located in Doncaster, with hybrid working arrangements available. 

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Media, the Advisor Media will work within a high-performing and supportive team to provide timely and accurate information in response to incidents and issues involving Ambulance Victoria. You'll also bring together proactive media campaigns and opportunities to improve health literacy and promote the exceptional clinical care and innovation of our paramedics and first responders. 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Seek out proactive media opportunities from across AV to celebrate our people and promote the high-quality care, innovation and clinical excellence AV provides to patients and the wider community
  • Manage media enquiries as part of a seven-day shift roster including developing media releases and deciphering operational information, while maintaining patient privacy
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of external communications strategy, policy, and protocols, and in the production of team and media reporting
  • Deliver the whole communications package across a broad spectrum of media, including internal and external digital and social channels
  • Develop and maintain strong, meaningful, and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Gather, assess, and disseminate accurate and time-sensitive information via media releases, media statements, key messages or talking points on a range of AV matters 

About you 

To be considered for this position you will possess: 

  • Completion of a degree or relevant industry certification with proven subsequent appropriate experience, or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of how to use media to enhance an organisation's reputation and provide timely and relevant reactive and proactive information and opportunities to the media
  • Capacity and capability to work rostered hours, shift work, some public holidays and weekends
  • Strong writing skills together with proven ability to multitask and perform in an accurate and timely manner within a high-pressure and complex environment
  • High level integrity and demonstrated ability to handle complex, sensitive information and issues, maintain confidentiality and disseminate information to relevant key stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to gain effective cooperation from key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Demonstrated maturity and dependability, with the capacity to professionally and effectively represent AV 

The successful candidate will also be required to possess a current Victorian Driver Licence.

The position is graded at AV4 under the Ambulance Victoria (Management and Administrative Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2021.
