We are seeking a Senior Cyber Security Operations Engineer to provide senior level expertise to ensure the alignment with Department of Health Cybersecurity controls to support the ongoing effective operation of security related tools and systems. 

This full time, permanent position is based in Blackburn North. While WFH/Hybrid options are accessible and available to all employees, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Blackburn North Business Centre in line with our hybrid working model. 

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Lead Cyber Security Systems, responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to:

  • Implement and develop secure configuration baselines, for all relevant configuration items, and monitor the effectiveness and compliance of these baselines once in use
  • Oversee and monitor the security aspects of identification, authentication and access control, and work with support teams to remediate any exceptions
  • Ensure logging from all systems relevant to security or compliance is efficiently transferred into the SIEM to allow for timely correlation and anomaly detection along with long term storage
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with technical support staff across the various functional domains to achieve a collaborative resolution to security issues within their areas 

About you

To be considered for this position you will possess:

  • A postgraduate degree or relevant industry certification with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and high-level relevant experience (preferably in an Information Technology related discipline)
  • Senior technical experience in the Cyber Security field
  • Significant broad experience working across DTS technology areas and with business stakeholders
  • Deep understanding and working knowledge of Cyber Security and operational frameworks such as NIST, ISO, CIS, ASD, VPDSF and ITIL
  • Experience working within a large environment with a significant mobile workforce, preferably in an Emergency Services, Health Services or similar organisation
