We are seeking a Cyber Security Operations Engineer to join AV's Cyber and Information Security team and play a critical role in identifying and addressing cyber threats. 

This full time, permanent position is based in Blackburn North. While WFH/Hybrid options are accessible and available to all employees, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Blackburn North Business Centre in line with our hybrid working model. 

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Lead Cyber Security Systems, responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to:

  • Conduct thorough daily assessments, triage and investigation of security events, alerts, and notifications generated by various security tools. Analyse incidents using established processes and playbooks, taking necessary actions to mitigate risks and enhance overall security posture
  • Support the collection, analysis, dissemination and execution of relevant threat intelligence, including government advisories, threat intelligence reports, and vulnerability notifications to bolster organisations defence
  • Continuously monitor and manage security tools to detect signs of ineffective performance, unusual activities, or compromised configurations
  • Collaborate with other IT and cyber security teams to promote a culture of security awareness and teamwork. Offer guidance and assistance to colleagues and stakeholders on best practices in cybersecurity 

About you

To be considered for this position you will possess:

  • A degree or relevant industry certification in Cyber Security with proven subsequent relevant experience in technology, or an equivalent combination of training and relevant cyber knowledge and experience
  • Proven experience in security operations, incident response, or threat intelligence
  • Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) tools, intrusion detection systems (IDS), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) toolsets and other cybersecurity technologies
  • Practical technical IT experience, including expertise in Servers, Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ASD, Mitre ATT&CK
