As the core operational division, Regional Operations is responsible for delivering quality, patient focused emergency medical response and pre-hospital care to Victorians and cross border communities. This is achieved through a variety of careers, volunteer and Co-Responder service delivery models and a dedicated workforce of approximately 4000 operational staff made up of MICA and ALS Paramedics, Ambulance Community Officers, and Community First Responders supported by Remote Area Nurse and Fire-fighter co-responders across the state. 

About the position 

Ambulance Victoria is currently seeking a suitably experienced senior advisor in the position of Executive Advisor, Regional Operations

A key member of the Office of the Executive Director, Regional Operations, and working closely with the Senior Leadership team, this position will provide a high level of executive and project support, project management and participation in key strategic programs with the aim of enhancing and improving all aspects of our regional operations. 

With an ability to effectively coordinate and manage the divisions outputs, this position will be critical to: 

  • Actively managing critical activities, projects and programs of work on behalf of the Executive Director, collating and evaluating relevant input from key stakeholders and providing professional and thorough briefings in a timely manner
  • Managing escalated divisional enquiries, cases or issues providing an evaluation overlay and risk assessment for Executive action
  • Provision of recommendations on emergent issues directly to the Executive Director and ensuring that the interests of AV are appropriately addressed
  • Preparing high level, professional briefing materials, reports, and audit and risk submissions, often of a complex or sensitive nature by applying critical analysis, evidence and recommendations that provide options for executive, senior management or committee decisions
  • Building a broad and robust network and lasting partnerships with senior management, stakeholders and colleagues across and external to AV whilst creating an environment in which the Office of the Executive Director is approachable, professional, constructive, and highly effective 

About you

Suited to highly motivated and strategic individual with extensive experience as a trusted advisor, the successful applicant will possess: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, management or public administration with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and extensive relevant experience
  • Experience providing expert advice on complex issues across senior levels of a large and diverse organisation (healthcare or public service/sector highly desirable)
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills to enable the identification of issues and the judgement to determine appropriate courses of action for achieving HR goals
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation and business writing skills with the ability to influence and brief high-level stakeholders in a variety of forums
  • The capacity to make sound decisions under pressure and gain the acceptance and support of ideas and cooperation of others 
  • A high level of communication with an ability to build and maintain relationships and influence, negotiate, and generate buy-in with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external 

Hybrid working options are available however it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Doncaster headquarters (3 days per week in office).
