We are seeking a Director Professional Standards and Behaviours to actively support the highest standards of professional conduct and ethical behaviour and seek to build organisation-wide engagement in the prevention of unlawful or harmful workplace conduct.
This is a full-time, ongoing position based at our Blackburn North Business Centre. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our Blackburn office in line with our hybrid working model.
About the role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will lead the team that provides expert advice, receives and investigates complaints, supports stakeholders through a person centric and trauma-informed approach. Responsibilities include (not limited to):
- Provide strategic oversight and direction for AV's Professional Standards & Behaviours Department (PSBD), including key developments across specialist function streams for intake, response and support, investigations, policy, and research
- Increase the safety of AV workplaces in the short term through immediate action/intervention and over the long term through identification of key themes to inform broader culture change/reform by promoting a central point of support and advocacy for those who experience unlawful or harmful conduct
- Lead PSBD to provide authoritative, expert advice to the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Directors and leaders across AV on leading practice, person-centred approaches, caseload forecasting, workplace trends, risk mitigation, and contingency planning
- Manage the quality assurance and professional services and business operations, including planning, budgets, financial performance, and expenditure to deliver key organisational priorities in line with AV's methodologies, financial frameworks, procurement, and people policies
- As a professional expert, build strong, influential, and collaborative relationships with senior internal stakeholders, operational management, and specialists within AV and external key health and emergency stakeholder representatives on specialised policy development and industry strategies
- Provide strong and effective leadership by fostering a performance based, collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and commitment to best practice
About you
To be considered for this position, you will have completed a postgraduate degree with relevant experience in Human Resources, Law, Human Rights or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of training and extensive relevant experience in management of workplace compliant and conduct matters. Other requirements include (not limited to):
- Extensive relevant experience and/or knowledge regarding management of workplace discipline, conduct and misconduct, industrial or human resource matters and/or strategic and executive leadership and operational delivery or implementation
- Knowledge of federal/state legislation relating to equal opportunity, human rights, and workplace relations (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience working in senior roles in a complex organisation with diverse business requirements
- High level conceptual and analytical skills and demonstrated professional expertise in providing sound, practical advice to senior levels and key external stakeholders on complex issues
- Knowledge and experience in human-centred workplace practices and contemporary practices in managing workplace harm matters
- Demonstrated experience developing initiatives, policies, programs that impact across multiple major functional areas
- Proven experience and success in building and leading high-performing teams undertaking sensitive and complex activities
