AV are seeking two Lead Safety Programs to join the Health and Safety department to drive continuous improvement in risk management, compliance, and safety outcomes. The Lead Safety Programs also provide strategic and operational oversight of programs of work, associated teams, and key health and safety initiatives. 

The two roles have distinct portfolios:

  1. Manual Handling (MH) and Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD)
  2. Psychosocial and respiratory protection 

These roles are full time, permanent positions. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at Doncaster Headquarters in line with our hybrid working model. 

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Manager Safety, responsibilities of these positions include, but not limited to:

  • Leading the teams, setting direction, building capability, and ensuring effective delivery of program outcomes
  • Overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs of work, including key projects and initiatives aligned to organisational priorities
  • Driving and delivering broader Health & Safety projects and initiatives, ensuring integration with enterprise safety objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring, analysing, and reporting on safety performance, including program specific metrics, and providing actionable insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Supporting and participating in internal and external audits, ensuring program delivery aligns with ISO 45001 and organisational standards, and closing out findings effectively
  • Leading the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of relevant components of the OHS Management System, policies, procedures, and frameworks 

About you

To be considered for this role, candidates should hold a postgraduate qualification or relevant industry certification (or be actively working toward one), along with extensive experience in a related field. A combination of formal training and solid practical experience will also be considered. Certification as an Internal/Lead Auditor for ISO 45001 is highly desirable.

You will also possess:

  • Demonstrated experience managing OHS risks in a complex and highly regulated organisation
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of OHS legislation
  • Experience in the design, implementation and management of projects
  • Experience in developing training, projects or equivalent is highly desirable
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications
