We are seeking an Advisor Media to join an experienced and high-performing team of media professionals to anticipate issues, react to the news cycle and positively frame AV's clinical excellence, research and its reputation through proactive and reactive media, stakeholder, and government relationships. 

Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will deliver strategic communications, advocacy, and media campaigns across metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria. This hands-on role requires an understanding of community and organisational needs, and political nuances in which you operate. 

This position is a 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at Doncaster in line with our hybrid working model. 

About the role 

If you are ready to take on a challenging and rewarding media position within an organisation that makes a genuine difference to lives of Victorians every day, this could be the role for you. Reporting to the Manager Media, responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to: 

  • Seek out positive media opportunities to support and promote high-quality care, innovative patient-centred services, and clinical excellence AV provides to patients and the wider community
  • Manage media enquiries as part of a seven-day shift roster including developing media releases and deciphering operational information, while maintaining patient privacy
  • Proactively identify current and emerging media issues and risks and develop well-considered responses or solutions
  • Take a relationships-based approach to work proactively with a broad range of stakeholders, including the workforce, government, media, and community, to build trust and advocate for AV priorities
  • Deliver the whole communications package across a broad spectrum of media, including internal and external traditional, digital, and social channels 

About you 

To be considered for this position you will possess:

  • Completion of a degree or relevant industry certification with proven subsequent appropriate experience, or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience
  • Sound knowledge, understanding and ability to recognise emerging issues and support well-considered proactive responses or solutions, use media to enhance an organisation's reputation and provide timely and relevant information and opportunities
  • Strong writing skills together with proven ability to multitask and perform in an accurate and timely manner within a high-pressure and complex environment
  • High level integrity and demonstrated ability to handle complex, sensitive information and issues, maintain confidentiality, and disseminate information to relevant key stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to gain effective cooperation from key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated maturity and dependability, with the capacity to represent AV professionally and effectively
  • Capacity and capability to work rostered hours, shift work (morning/day/afternoon), some public holidays, and weekends
