Western Plains Correctional Centre is a modern, maximum-security facility designed to support rehabilitation and positive behavioural change for up to 1,248 people in custody. Western Plain features advanced infrastructure, including medical wards, a cultural centre and vocational training facilities, enabling a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to care.

Through its innovative design and integrated service model, Western Plains promotes safety, strengthens connections and supports successful reintegration into the community. Working across Workforce and Prison Services, Communities, and Safety and Operational Services, the centre delivers coordinated, person-centred services that respond to the complex and evolving needs of the people in its care.

About the role

As part of the Workforce and Prison Services (WPS) team, the Executive Services team is dedicated to delivering essential corporate and ancillary services support to prison operational teams and prisoners.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Executive Services, this role is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of high-quality, responsive internal communication services and targeted engagement activities and events across a range of projects and operational priorities within Western Plains Correctional Centre.  They will hold secretariat duties for various meetings and assist with administration tasks that support business continuity. Additionally, the role will maintain the prison' correspondence register and coordinate various staff forums.

The Executive Service Officer has an integral role in building a positive and inclusive culture, driving an engaged workforce, and embedding the core values and behaviours consistent with Western Plains Correctional Centre's mission of rehabilitation and reintegration.

To be successful in this role, you will deliver:

  • Highly developed writing and editorial skills with demonstrated ability to research and prepare engaging communications content for a variety of audiences and mediums.
  • Demonstrated experience in a digital communications environment with demonstrated proficiency in the content management of intranet portals and knowledge of contemporary design tools and software applications including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Effective consultative, verbal communication, interpersonal and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.
