The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Learning Specialist to provide a critical role within System Integrity and Workforce Capability.

 

About the Business Unit

Justice Services is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's Community Correctional Services (CCS) across more than 35 locations. It ensures individuals are safely managed in the community and aims to rehabilitate individuals by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.

Community Operations and Parole is responsible for providing central end-to-end oversight of the CCS service system and includes System Integrity and Workforce Capability (SIWC), Practice Development and Review Branch, Court Assessment and Prosecutions Services Central Unit, Statewide Community Work and Partnerships and Parole Central Unit. Community Operations and Parole also includes and the Adult Parole Board (the Board) Secretariat, which provides operational and administrative support to ensure the Board can perform its functions.  

SIWC is responsible for providing best practice interventions which aim to reduce the risk of reoffending including quality assurance systems for risk assessment and case management. It is also responsible for the delivery of high-quality learning and development programs to build and maintain the capability of the CCS workforce to contribute to high quality practice.

About the Role

The Learning Specialist will work closely with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify learning gaps, develop and design quality learning products, and provide high quality facilitation of Workforce Capability programs. Learning Specialists will also provide management and support for allocated Learning Support Specialists across the team. The Learning Specialists will be responsible for a portfolio of activities, which may include:

  • Leading and facilitating Workforce Capability programs relating to risk management and case management practice
  • Developing and implementing priority strategic projects
  • Internal and external stakeholder management
  • Managing contracted services.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Design and develop high quality learning materials, sessions and programs using contemporary learning theory and delivery methods.
  • Manage a Workforce Capability portfolio and support other members of the team when required.
  • Supervise and mentor allocated Learning Support Specialists for the completion of key Workforce Capability projects and priorities.
  • Plan, manage and implement Workforce Capability projects and portfolio work.
  • Provide specialist advice and reports on workforce capability and learning needs to meet organisational expectations and priorities.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Knowledge and experience of adult learning principles and advanced facilitation approaches.
  • Experience in risk assessment and case management practice in a correctional setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of training and assessment processes, including training needs analysis, workplace learning methodologies, and evaluation systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in program or curriculum design using established instructional design principles is desirable.

Qualifications/requirements

  •  A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable.
