The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Project and Business Support Officer, to provide a critical role within Office of the Deputy Commissioner.
About the Business Unit
Sitting within the Corrections and Justice Services Group, Corrections Victoria (CV) operates Victoria's adult corrections system. CV is responsible for achieving the appropriate balance between a safe, secure and humane system while providing programs and services that seek to rehabilitate people through addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
Sentence Management Division (SMD) sits within CV and consists of the following units:
- Sentence Management Operations
- Sentence Calculation and Warrant Administration
- Video Conferencing Coordination Unit
- Complex Classification Unit
- Counter Terrorism Coordination
- Office of the Deputy Commissioner
- Maribyrnong Community Residential Facility
- MARAM Framework Implementation
About the Role
The Project and Business Support Officer is part of the Deputy Commissioner 's office and is responsible for providing a range of high-quality business, project and administrative support to coordinate Sentence Management Division related legal matters. As well as drafting letters and reports for court, the role is also required to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders and will source, collate and analyse information from our stakeholders and from Corrections Victoria information systems that may be provided as evidence in court.
Some of your duties will include:
- Use information management systems (eg. PIMS, EJustice, Centurion, CVIMS, EBC, TRIM) to identify, analyse and collate information to respond to requests for information.
- Draft letters and reports to be submitted as evidence in court.
- Provide regular reports and updates to managers and senior staff regarding the progress of legal matters.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated understanding of the criminal justice system and the main issues impacting Corrections Victoria.
- Well-developed written (letters and reports) and verbal communication skills in a government or legal environment.
- Proven ability to track and prioritise tasks to meet tight deadlines.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a legal environment is desirable but not essential.
