Position Details

  • 2 x Full time, ongoing positions based in Melbourne's South-East
  • Promote rehabilitation through meaningful community work
  • Be part of a highly motivated and supportive team who take pride in their work

Make a real difference in your community. Support positive change. Help people succeed.

Community Correctional Services (CCS) plays a vital role in keeping Victorian communities safe. We do this by supporting people on court orders, post-sentence supervision, and parole to access programs, services and community connections that reduce reoffending and create better futures.

A key part of this work is ensuring individuals on Community Corrections Orders (CCOs) complete meaningful unpaid community work. The Community Work and Partnerships team develops and maintains partnerships with a wide range of government and non-government organisations so individuals can contribute to their community while completing their court-ordered hours.

About the role

As a Community Work Officer, you'll help people successfully complete their community work hours by connecting them to safe, appropriate and impactful community work opportunities. In this role, you will:

  • Match individuals to suitable community work placements
  • Monitor attendance, compliance and progress
  • Build strong relationships with Community Work Supervisors, partner organisations and other stakeholders
  • Complete reports, documentation and on-site risk assessments
  • Support the ongoing development of community work partnerships across the region

This role offers variety, autonomy and the chance to work closely with both community organisations and individuals striving to make positive change.

We are currently recruiting two full-time, ongoing positions. One role will operate Monday to Friday, while the second will work Sunday through Thursday (with penalty rates applicable for weekend hours). Flexibility to meet evolving business needs is essential. Further fixed-term opportunities may also become available.

The roles are based primarily in Dandenong, with occasional travel to other locations across the South East Metropolitan region.

About you

To thrive as a Community Work Officer, you will bring:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to service excellence
  • Sound decision-making skills and the ability to manage your workload independently
  • Flexibility, adaptability and a positive approach to change
  • Solid computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, electronic record-keeping and internal databases
  • Experience in community services, not-for-profit organisations or community development is highly desirable.

For further information about this position, please refer to the attached position description. For additional queries, please contact Danka Tsardakis – Manager, Community Work and Partnerships on 0408 403 760.
