About the Business Unit

Corella Place is a 40-to-55-bed, residential facility in Ararat, Victoria, designed for convicted sex offenders who have completed their prison sentences but are deemed an unacceptable risk to the public. It serves as a transitional, supervised facility for Rehabilitation and public safety, located near the Hopkins Correctional Centre.

About the Role

Specialist Case Managers (SCMs) are responsible for delivering high quality case management to a caseload of the highest priority sex offenders, under post-sentence supervision. SCMs will be responsible for ensuring that the nature of sex offender management aligns with best practice initiatives, including managing offenders in line with Corrections Victoria's Offender Management Framework.

In addition, it is expected that the SCM will possess excellent writing skills demonstrated through the ability to prepare Departmental briefings, general external correspondence and reports to key stakeholders. SCMs will also be responsible for the meticulous management of CCS offender files.

The position will be required to adhere to local or regional rostering arrangements and other staffing management practices as directed.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Effectively manage a caseload of complex, high-risk and high-profile sex offenders who are subject to post-sentence supervision, to promote compliance with order obligations and promote behaviour change.
  • Promote and demonstrate a continuous improvement philosophy and model case management practices on best practice literature and research, engaging in effective quality assurance practices and procedures.
  • Apply sound professional judgment in the ongoing identification and assessment of individual risk, with a paramount consideration for community safety, escalating situations where necessary.
  • Contributes to the planning of appropriate community based activities and source support service systems and training opportunities for sex offenders.
  • Contributes in the identification of service gaps for sex offenders and assist in the development of systems or agreements that aim to fill such gaps and report against the development of local initiatives and service plans.
