The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Manager, Budget and Investment to provide a critical role within the Finance Branch.
About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer, and stronger Victoria.
The Finance and Procurement business unit provides department-wide financial, procurement and workplace services through strategic leadership and setting the direction, policy and processes, and partnering with the department to build capability.
The Finance Branch leads the department's efforts to comply with government and legislative financial management responsibilities while driving a culture a strategic financial management across the department. It is responsible for the department's financial and budgetary policies and processes, including statutory reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxation compliance, government reporting (including Standing Directions), and facilitation of the annual budget process.
About the Role
Leading a team, the Manager, Budget and Investment, reporting through the Director, Budget and Investment, drives the monitoring and reporting of key initiatives and projects across the justice portfolio, including the management of the annual budget cycle and corresponding committees.
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide effective leadership that drives the department's internal budget process and corresponding investment strategy, including the review of business cases and development of the submission to government.
- Lead and drive complex analysis, reports and submission processes for the department including the Expenditure Review Committee, Public Accounts and Estimates Committee (PAEC) and Annual Report process.
- Undertake complex financial and non-financial analysis to provide advice to inform the department's strategic decision making on matters involving the department's budget profile, financial sustainability, savings initiatives and other policies and programs as required.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in public sector policy and financial management
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and research skills with an aptitude for problem solving in the context of financial and budget resource management.
Qualifications/requirements
- Relevant qualification in policy, strategy, or finance is desirable.
