Position Details

Requirements

All applicants must have completed the Corrections Victoria prison officer pre-service training in order to be considered for this role.

Background

  • Female only, minimum security facility with no prison fences.
  • Based on a farm with cottage-style shared accommodation.
  • Transitional prison, preparing prisoners to reintegrate back into society by offering courses and work experience opportunities.
  • Only prisoners who have demonstrated consistent good behaviour throughout their sentence are eligible to be transferred to Tarrengower prison.
  • Prisoners who have babies and toddlers can, in special circumstances, raise their children (up to five-years-old) inside the prison.
  • Prisoners can engage in community work, including the Prison Pet Partnership, where prisoners assist with re-training retired greyhounds.
