Position Details

About ESTA

We are the Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA), the statutory authority providing the critical link between the Victorian community and the State's emergency services agencies. We provide Victoria's 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services, including Triple Zero, for police, fire, ambulance, and Victoria State Emergency Service. We also manage the provision of advanced, operational communications for Victoria's emergency services, supporting police, fire, ambulance and VICSES personnel in the field.

In 2020-21, ESTA received more than 2.8 million calls for all emergency, operational and non-emergency calls; on average, this is a call every 11 seconds or almost 8000 a day.

 

About The Role

The Networking team within the IT Infrastructure has been phenomenal in providing outstanding service across all ESTA sites (Burwood East, Williams Landing and Ballarat). Following an unprecedented growth across ESTA, the Infrastructure team is seeking a Network Engineer to cater to the increasing demand and will implement equipment installation plans based on the Network Administrator's specifications, maintain each component of the network and troubleshoot issues.

The role is based out of Burwood East and report into the Manager, Networking.

 

Key accountabilities of these rewarding roles include:

  • Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations. 
  • Administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches & controllers.
  • Ensure network documentation is maintained to a professional standard and reflects the ESTA network environment
  • Replacing faulty network hardware components when required
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call roster once in 3 weeks.

 

About You

As a capable and experienced ICT Networking professional, you will possess high level communicative skills, a problem-solving mindset and the ability to influence across all levels of business.

It anticipated you will also possess:

  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware - Cisco Nexus Devices, Palo Alto Firewalls & Citrix load balancers
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers.
  • Proven strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment
  • The willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
