Position Details

Exciting opportunity to join the Parliamentary Budget Office team as a Senior Analyst or Analyst on a 6 month (negotiable duration) fixed term basis.

You will analyse issues and concepts and translate them into models or position papers. You will provide independent analysis of policy proposals and provide economic, fiscal and financial advice commensurate with your skills, experience, professional interests and our operational needs.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • delivering high quality costings of policies members of parliament are considering adopting
  • developing meaningful advice, briefings and reports in relation to economic, financial, budget and fiscal factors impacting Victoria, building or adapting supporting models
  • developing public awareness advice, in your area of policy expertise, to inform public debate.

Your work will help influence policy development and public debate in the Victorian community, providing you with a strong sense of purpose and achievement. For Senior Analysts, you will have the opportunity to lead, or provide oversight to, a team working on a range of challenging problems.

Given our wide scope of services, we are looking for candidates with varying skills to complement our existing team. You may have expertise in economic, fiscal or financial matters applied to the Victorian government. Tertiary qualifications in economics, business, finance or public administration are desirable.

Salary ranges:

  • Senior Analyst: PoV Grade 6.1 ($120,692 - $141,102)
  • Analyst: PoV Grade 5.1 ($98,396 - $108,724)
