The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) was established to ensure Victoria's strong economic performance by growing industries and regions. The department supports a range of diverse portfolios and operates across metropolitan, regional and international offices.

Reporting to the Director, HR Systems & Services, the Manager, Executive Services will lead a small team responsible for providing expert advice and services on executive recruitment, employment, performance management, reporting and talent strategies for Senior Executive Service, Principal Scientist and Senior Technical Specialists positions.

To be successful in this role, you will need people management skills along with a good understanding of the Victorian Public Sector executive employment frameworks and policies. This position might suit a People & Culture Business Partner or Senior Recruitment Advisor within the VPS looking to expand on their skills and experience.

The key accountabilities of the role will include:

  • Lead and manage a small team in providing a comprehensive range of strategic and operational recruitment, employment and talent management services for Senior Executive Service, Principal Scientist and Senior Technical Specialist level employees.
  • Provide expert advice on executive employment for the department and its portfolio agencies aligned to government policy and develop solutions which meets the needs of the business and organisational objectives.
  • In partnership with Payroll Operations and Workforce Reporting, develop and manage a suite of key workforce analytics, benchmarking and reporting packages pertaining to the Senior Executive Service, Principal Scientist and Senior Technical Specialist cohort to improve the department's knowledge and understanding of trends and issues to inform the development of HR policies, strategies and programs to address key issues.
  • Prepare complex reports, submissions, briefing papers, correspondence to the Secretary and senior management on various employment matters of a highly confidential and sensitive nature.
  • Manage and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including departmental executive management, other VPS Departments, the Victorian Public Sector Commission and portfolio public entities.
  • Provide secretariat services to the department's Executive Staffing and Remuneration Committee, including the development of agenda, minutes, report and discussion papers.
  • Lead or participate in reviews or project on Senior Executive Service frameworks, related operating systems, practices and procedures and represent the department at various whole of government meetings and forums.
