Position Details

Deputy Director, Global Market Development

  • Raise the profile of Victoria internationally

Reporting to the Director, Trade you will lead a team to deliver on the government's trade priorities and programs.  The Deputy Director is a vital contributor to the achievement of export outcomes for Victoria and plays a key role in selling Victoria's industry capabilities to international audiences.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Driving a coordinated and inclusive business and market focused approach to the design and delivery of trade strategies.
  • Leading the development and implementation of a refreshed strategic framework to underpin the department's trade agenda.
  • Representing the department and presenting at various committees and events both nationally and internationally.
  • Building and maintaining constructive relationships with Ministers and Victorian Government Trade and Investment Commissioners.
  • Enabling Victorian businesses to become globally connected, innovative and competitive in the export arena.
  • Leading a high performing team that works collaboratively to develop programs that deliver trade and investment objectives.

To be successful you will have:

  • Strong entrepreneurial, creative and commercial skills with the ability to quickly adapt and respond to new trade opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating a team of professionals.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • A results orientation, with strong analytical, problem solving and negotiations skills.
  • Strong understanding of Victoria's trade capabilities and an appreciation of how local, national and international affairs impact Victorian exporters.
  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to lead the design, planning and delivery of internationally focused trade activities.

Domestic and International travel is required.
