Game Officer - Compliance
The Game Management Authority (GMA) is an independent statutory authority responsible for the regulation of game hunting in Victoria. It delivers programs to improve and promote sustainable and responsible hunting in Victoria.

The GMA is responsible for:

• issuing Game Licences and related testing;

• managing open and closed seasons for game species;

• enforcing game hunting laws and taking action against those who do not hunt legally; and

• educating and informing hunters on how to hunt legally and responsibly in Victoria.

The positions of Game Officer - Compliance are part of the Compliance and Intelligence branch within Game Management Victoria.

Game Officers (GO's) are appointed as Authorised Officers under the Conservation, Forests and Lands Act 1987 and exercise law enforcement powers which include the enforcement of public safety legislation.  GO's engage with a variety of stakeholders, including government and community groups under direction from the Team Leader and SGO's to deliver high quality community-focussed, state wide compliance services within a Victoria (East or West).  In accordance with state-wide strategic objectives and priorities and in order to maximise compliance, GO's actively contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate enforcement, education and strategies and at times operate within highly charged and emotional environments related to hunting and forestry protests.

GO's work to set rosters which may include working on weekends and public holidays and shifts outside of normal working hours and from time to time may be required to work from alternative or remote work locations. As a small Authority all staff undertake a range of other activities as required.

The role requires excellent interpersonal skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders, including government community groups and an adherence to operating within established guidelines and directions to ensure effective and timely service delivery.
