Position Details

Strategic Advisor, Office of the Head

  • Represent the Head in inter-governmental, inter-departmental, industry and stakeholder meetings
  • Full-time, ongoing position.
  • CBD Location

Reporting to the Director, Office of the Head, you will be responsible for providing high-quality and timely policy advice to the Head, Employment, Investment and Trade (EIT) about complex and sensitive matters requiring decisions by the Head, Secretary or Ministers.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Formulate and communicate policy advice considering risks and implications of proposed policy topics.
  • Contribute to critical projects and the development of advice to Government with respect to broader strategy and policy reform of government.
  • Pro-actively build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external organisations.
  • Work with highly complex contentious and sensitive information to prepare and present authoritative technical, policy and program advice.
  • Prepare and review quality reports, briefings and ministerial correspondence.

To be successful you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in applying policy frameworks in considering issues and developing policy papers, options and advice.
  • Acute understanding of the current economic environment to anticipate and effectively address emerging issues and trends.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering results in dynamic multi-stakeholder operating environments.
  • Proven ability to influence and negotiate effectively with stakeholders, in what can often be on complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and highly developed conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to recognise opportunities for continuous improvement.
