How you will make a difference

The Senior Health Safety Advisor is passionate about influencing a safety culture and building relationships with stakeholders.

Under the direction of the Manager, Work Health and Safety, the Senior Health and Safety Adviser:

• Provides correct and appropriate Work Health and Safety (WHS) advice, guidance and support to Members of Parliament, managers, Electorate officers and staff to ensure WHS compliance

• Advises and consults with all levels within Parliament

• Develops strong working relationships with the Executives, Members of Parliament, managers, Electorate officers and staff

• Manages the DPS WHS systems, responsibilities and practices, including Incident Management, Emergency Management, WorkCover

• Reviews WHS policies and procedures

• Drives WHS best practice, promotes wellbeing and enables a WHS culture

About you

• Demonstrated expertise in the provision of WHS services, including providing internal advice/consultancy and the delivery of innovative solutions

• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement WHS safety programs incorporating contemporary technology and practice

• Excellent stakeholder management, written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills including strategic influencing skills

• Commitment to excellent customer service in a changing, challenging, sensitive and complex environment.

• Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of health and safety by motivating, coaching and engaging with staff and stakeholders

• A relevant qualification in Work Health and Safety or relevant work experience
