Parliament of Victoria — Deputy Clerk Legislative Assembly

This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a suitably experienced and qualified person to join the Legislative Assembly in an executive position reporting to the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly.  This key position forms part of the Executive team and will contribute to strategic leadership to ensure the ongoing sustainability, integrity and reputation of the Parliament of Victoria.

With your sound knowledge and understanding of parliamentary chamber operations you will provide high level, authoritative, expert and complex apolitical advice on all matters related to the functions of the Legislative Assembly and its committees.  You will also ensure that the business of the House is conducted in accordance with the practices and procedures of the Legislative Assembly, and that the departmental services are delivered in a cost effective and efficient manner. 

To succeed in this role you will possess a sound knowledge of the principles of the Westminster-style system of parliamentary democracy, together with an excellent knowledge of the relevant Acts, the Standing Orders of the Assembly, the Joint Standing Orders of the Assembly and the Council, and the practice of the Legislative Assembly.  Your track record of success at a senior level leading, developing and managing a diverse and multi-disciplinary team will be a strength, along with your highly developed communication, interpersonal, negotiation and diplomacy skills.  You will be known for your proven ability to analyse, interpret and provide impartial advice and your skills at drafting complex parliamentary procedures and related documentation will be well regarded.

An attractive Total Remuneration Package will be offered to the successful candidate.
