Position Details

  • $116,863 – $156,387 (Plus Superannuation)

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing the delivery of projects and providing advice to senior, executive management and Ministers on a variety of priority government-led telecommunications and infrastructure projects.

An understanding of the telecommunications industry and current technology trends will be highly regarded.

The key accountabilities are:

  • Leads, develops and delivers projects within the telecommunications and innovation sector contributing to the telecommunications unit's new initiatives and current programs under strict budget controls and challenging timeframes, not limited to the Connecting Regional Communities Program (CRCP).
  • Provides subject matter expertise that conceptualises, initiates, implements, promotes and evaluates complex and innovative technology projects. 
  • Manages, participates and contributes to the strategic decision-making processes and policies supporting Ministerial and departmental commitments and Identifies and responds to new and emerging strategic issues impacting on the operating environment.
  • Initiates, develop and maintains strong and effective working relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders and negotiate/strategically influence key stakeholders to obtain high level agreement to project and program outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leading project teams and the management and delivery of telecommunications related policies and programs across Victoria.
  •  Well-developed communication skills, ability to confidently convey ideas and information and understand and meet the needs of a targeted audience.  Experience in the preparation of reports, briefs and recommendations for the Telecommunications & Infrastructure unit
  • Lead consultation and liaise with and influence key stakeholders
  • Ability to undertake investigations on a wide range of telecommunications and state economic development issues.
