About the Role

The office of Gaelle Broad MP is seeking applications for a full-time Electorate Officer based in the Bendigo electorate office.

Electorate Officers play an important role in providing services to the Victorian community. Reporting to Gaelle Broad MP, your work will require a high degree of trust and integrity. Confidentiality is also a key requirement, interacting daily with constituents, community organisations and stakeholders. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing high-quality support to the member and constituents
  • Diary management and office administration
  • Planning and coordinating public events, functions and meetings.
  • Providing advice and support on parliamentary matters

Under Section 30 of the Parliamentary Administration Act 2005, Electorate Officers must not perform any party specific activities.  Party specific activity means any activity for the dominant purpose of directing how a person should vote at an election, by promoting or opposing the election of any candidate at the election; or a registered political party; or an elected member

About you

The role of an Electorate Officer requires you to demonstrate:

  • Initiative and organisational ability, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands as part of a small team.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to engage a broad range of people  
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and a commitment to excellent service.
  • Sound knowledge of parliamentary processes, and an understanding of State, Federal and Local government functions.
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in MS suite of software and use and maintenance of online communications.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to meet the demands and flexibility of an Electorate Office.
  • Behaviours consistent with Electorate Officer values and Code of Conduct, including the ability to display high levels of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, and respect in relationships with others and decision making.
  • A driver's licence would be desirable

Salary

Electorate Officer salaries are set out in the Electorate Officers (Victoria) Single Enterprise Agreement 2025.

Full time, Grade 2: A commencing salary of $85,973 per annum plus 12% employer superannuation can be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.

An additional 4% Workload Management Allowance in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.

Pre-Employment Screening requirements

All appointments are subject to an initial probationary period of 6 months, receipt of a satisfactory National Name (Police) Check and Working with Children Check.

Successful candidates who do not currently hold a Working with Children Check will be required to obtain a check within 3 months of commencement of employment. As part of the selection process, you may be asked to complete an online competency or skills assessment.
