Senior Project Officer, Review and Evaluation

  • Salary: $113,022 to $136,747 (Plus Superannuation)

The Role

As a Senior Project Officer, you will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to a range of evaluations across the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions. You will provide advice, undertake project planning and deliver capacity building activities to support evaluation practice across the department. 

The Senior Project Officer, Review and Evaluation will have the following accountabilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and work in specialist project teams to undertake research and evaluate key initiatives across the department's portfolio areas and provide authoritative advice regarding evaluation as required.
  • Analyse data, collate evidence, and conduct stakeholder interviews to formulate findings and make recommendations on a diverse range of initiatives.
  • Lead the production of concise, high quality and compelling reports, briefs and submissions to facilitate effective decision-making.

The Team

The position of Senior Project Officer, Review and Evaluation forms a part of the Economic Policy, Programs and Services group in the Design and Evaluation branch.

Economic Policy, Programs and Services Group (EPPS) supports delivery of sustainable economic development and employment growth for Victoria. The Design and Evaluation branch is growing to strengthen our in-house capability to provide advice across the policy lifecycle and deliver more and higher quality program evaluations. This will better support the Department to understand the impact of its work. Our focus is on helping improve how the department delivers for Victorians.

About You

  1. Evaluation Expertise: Experience undertaking significant reviews and/or evaluation projects with the ability to deliver high quality products on time when managing multiple competing priorities.
  2. Problem solving: Advanced analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and capacity to make decisions and recommendations where diverse interests need to be considered.
  3. Written and verbal communication skills: Strong critical analysis and excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills including the development of reports, PowerPoint presentations and diagrams, submissions and briefings that are concise and engaging.
