POLICY OFFICER, PLANT BIOSECURITY

  • $91,354 - $92,304 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed Term untill November 2018
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: Attwood (flexibility may be available)

The position of Policy Officer, Plant Biosecurity is part of Agriculture, Food and Fibre Division's Biosecurity Operations Branch in the Employment, Investment and Trade Group.

The Employment, Investment and Trade Group delivers programs and services to grow the Victorian economy.  Its focus is on creating jobs and raising incomes through industry development, targeted investment and increasing the export value of Victorian firms.

The Policy Officer, Plant Biosecurity, will focus on developing appropriate policy and legislation for plant pests and diseases in Victoria and provide advice, reports and briefings on complex issues for senior departmental staff.  You will –

  • manage a subordinate legislation program;
  • contribute to regulatory policy development;
  • provide advice on regulatory arrangements and conditions for movement of plant products and equipment into and within Victoria;
  • interpret and provide accurate, timely and reliable advice on plant health legislation; and
  • develop and maintain networks with key stakeholders.

As the successful applicant for this position, you will have knowledge and understanding of plant biosecurity in Australia including key issues, relevant stakeholders and regulatory requirements and proven knowledge and skills in development of policy and legislation in the regulatory and compliance field, particularly in relation to plant biosecurity.
