Position Details

Irrigation Extension Officer

  • $59,080 - $80,987 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term – 3 years
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: Echuca or Kerang (flexibility may be available)

The position of Irrigation Extension Officer forms a part of the Agriculture Services division within Employment, Investment and Trade Group.

The Employment, Investment and Trade Group delivers programs and services to grow the Victorian economy.  Its focus is on creating jobs and raising incomes through industry development, targeted investment and increasing the export value of Victorian firms.

The Irrigation Extension Officer will support the Loddon Murray Irrigation Team to develop and manage key relationships with irrigation industries, regional investors, partners and stakeholders.

Under direction, you will develop, implement and evaluate sustainability projects to engage and assist landholders in the modernisation of farm irrigation systems. The position will ensure that environmental aspects for broad scale modernisation projects are considered and implemented as part of a whole farm systems approach.

The position will work collaboratively with key regional and state-wide stakeholder groups to deliver the irrigation work plan and contribute to the overall requirements of the project. The role will contribute to the development and delivery of extension programs.

To be successful in this role you will have an appropriate tertiary degree in Agricultural Science, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management, Science or an equivalent science qualification along with good knowledge of Natural Resource Management issues and understanding of modern irrigation systems.
