The Game Management Authority (GMA) is an independent statutory authority responsible for the regulation of game hunting in Victoria. It delivers programs to improve and promote sustainable and responsible hunting in Victoria.

The GMA is responsible for:

• issuing Game Licences and related testing;

• managing open and closed seasons for game species;

• enforcing game hunting laws and taking action against those who do not hunt legally; and

• educating and informing hunters on how to hunt legally and responsibly in Victoria.

Position Details

Senior Game Officer – Ballarat

  • $85,279 - $96,759 (Plus Superannuation)

The position of Senior Game Officer, Ballarat is part of the Compliance and Intelligence branch within Game Management Victoria.

Senior Game Officers (SGOs) deliver high quality community-centred game compliance services within a state segment (Eastern or Western Victoria), whilst also contributing to state-wide service delivery. SGOs actively contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate enforcement, education and other strategies in accordance with state-wide strategic objectives and priorities, to maximise compliance.

SGOs engage with a variety of stakeholders, including government and community groups, and manage their own work programs, under broad direction from the Team Leader, to ensure effective and timely service delivery.  SGOs work collaboratively in small regionally based teams led by Team Leaders for that segment of the state (Eastern or Western Victoria), and contribute actively to programs and projects across the broader organisation.

A qualification as an Authorised Officer Basic (Legal 1) or equivalent and a current Victorian Driver's Licence are mandatory for this role.

To be successful in this role you will have highly developed interpersonal skills and sound judgement.  You will enjoy building and developing effective client relationships.  Strong planning and organisational skills are vital to this role.
