Scientist - Veterinary Vaccines Development and Production

The position of Scientist - Veterinary Vaccines Development and Production forms a part of the Biosecurity and Agriculture Services branch with the Agriculture Victoria group.

Agriculture Victoria works with industry, primary producers, and communities to drive sustainable economic growth in the food and fibre sectors.

The Manager of Veterinary Vaccines Development and Production provides specialist and detailed technical expertise to the Pig Services Centre, to develop and manufacture high-quality vaccines.

This is a hands-on role with oversight of all aspects of the vaccine production facility. Vaccine production is conducted utilising established procedures, however initiative and commitment to scientific quality are essential to deliver on customer expectations. You will contribute to the development of new products, improve existing products and support staff at the Pig Services Centre.

To be successful in this role you will have an appropriate degree in science, microbiology, chemistry or approved equivalent science qualification along with an excellent understanding of microbiology laboratory practices, in particular, fermentation and sterile manufacture, including extensive knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice, NATA and validations. Demonstrated experience and extensive knowledge in fermentation and vaccine production processes within the code of Good Manufacturing Practice, NATA and whole cell bacterin production environment is essential to the role.
