The position of Senior Policy Analyst forms a part of the Animal Welfare Victoria branch within the Agriculture Victoria group.

We are seeking a Senior Policy Analyst to join the Domestic Animals team to deliver advice, analysis and research on diverse and challenging policy issues relating to domestic animals' management and welfare. The management of domestic animals is a high profile policy area with a broad range of stakeholders. 

The Senior Policy Analyst reports to the Manager, Domestic Animals. The position is responsible for undertaking complex assessments, providing advice and developing briefings on domestic animal management and welfare policy issues. The Senior Policy Analyst implements, and contributes to the reform of, the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and associated instruments. The Senior Policy Analyst manages and supports other team members and staff to deliver priority projects and advice.

The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills and experience in researching and developing policy recommendations to satisfy a complex group of stakeholders. They will need a solid understanding of policy concepts and an ability to apply sound policy analysis in the preparation of strategic advice. Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills are a must. This position also requires the interpersonal skills to liaise with a broad range of internal and external parties.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work well in a team environment, the capacity to negotiate and also be adaptable to change given the fast moving environment in which Animal Welfare Victoria, and the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions more broadly, operates.
