The position of Program Manager forms a part of the Recreational Fishing Improvements Division within VFA.

The Stocking Coordinator plays a central role in supporting the planning and implementing fish stocking and logistics services with aims to grow native and salmonid fish stocks, improve the Program Manager plays a central role in planning and implementing fish production and stocking services with aims to grow native and salmonid fish stocks, improve the recreational fishing experience and encourage further participation in the favoured pastime.

This position is largely responsible for the implementation of fish production and stocking outcomes associated with the Government's Target One Million program, which aims to get one million Victorians fishing by 2020. The Program Manager will lead a small team that is responsible for native and salmonid fish production, state-wide fish stocking services, strategic project planning and other broad fisheries management tasks across Victoria.

This position reports to the Manager Recreational Fishing Improvements and will work closely with the other areas of the Victorian Fisheries Authority to achieve broader results.

The Program Manager, using their advanced project and staff management and problem-solving skills will ensure that all projects are completed within the required timeframes, budget and departmental policies and procedures including OH&S and risk. The ability to make decisions in a fluid environment, under minimal supervision, where there may not be a definitive precedent is essential.

A high level of understanding of the recreational fishing sector and experience in leading projects in this area is an integral part of the role. The Program Manager must also have the ability to represent the organisation in public forums, including community and stakeholder meetings.
