Fisheries Officer

The Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA) is an independent statutory authority established to effectively manage Victoria's fisheries resources.

Are you interested in protecting the State's natural resources?

Can you effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds, negotiate confidently and in a professional manner?

Are you comfortable working outdoors, on land and at sea in all terrain and weather conditions?

If you are prepared to undertake a law enforcement role with a high level of personal integrity and credibility this may be the job for you. These positions are ongoing, commencing late September 2018 and are subject to successful completion of the Fisheries Officer Training and Assessment Program.

Prior to appointment, successful applicants must provide evidence of the following:

  • a current Drivers Licence
  • A certificate from a qualified swim instructor demonstrating an ability to swim 100 metres unassisted without stopping in under four minutes
  • Current level 2 first aid certificate

Applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
