The Policy Analyst within the Forest Industries, Fisheries and Game team supports the development and delivery of effective fisheries and game policy and contributes to advice to the Minister for Agriculture on legislative, regulatory, industry and employment-related matters.

Reporting to either the Manager or Senior Policy Analyst, the Policy Analyst will work closely with program delivery staff and key stakeholders to identify issues, provide advice and support implementation of high level policy advice in fisheries and game sectors.

Key accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the maintenance of strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders and negotiations with stakeholders to achieve Victorian Government policies and goals and meet timelines for delivery.
  • Work constructively with relevant portfolio agencies and DEDJTR policy area to support the delivery of robust policy advice and reporting obligations.
  • Represent the fisheries and game team in influence and negotiate in challenging circumstances. internal and external sectoral forums in areas of responsibility to gain cooperation.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Well-developed conceptual skills, with the ability to research and analyse issues, and develop policy and program solutions.
  • Demonstrated effective communications skills, both written and verbal, including experience in the preparation of Ministerial briefings, correspondence and parliamentary questions.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with team members and with other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good organisational skills and proven ability to coordinate and deliver projects to achieve stated business outcomes.
