Senior Advisor, Regulatory Strategy & Risk

  • $98,396 - $119,052 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: Ellinbank (Warragul)*.  This position will be relocating to the new GovHub in Morwell in 2021

The Senior Advisor, Regulatory Strategy and Risk provides authoritative advice relating to the development and implementation of Earth Resources Regulation strategy, risk management, policy proposals, and legislation.

The position provides strategic advice, risk analysis, comment and opinion regarding the regulatory framework administered by Earth Resources Regulation. This position is responsible for researching and preparing briefings, correspondence, managing audits outcomes and projects.

The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate –

  • a tertiary qualification in public policy, governance, law, risk management or a related discipline is required;
  • experience in policy, strategy or risk function relating to the regulation of natural resources or comparable industries;
  • knowledge and experience in the development of strategy, auditing, procedures, risk registers, treatment plans and reporting in a government context;
  • ability to contribute as a member of a cohesive team, communicate and collaborate with other teams, understand and analyse issues, and develop intelligent strategy and practical procedures;
  • highly developed verbal and written communication skills and extensive experience in producing risk and strategy reports, policy papers and briefings; and
  • excellent ability to prioritise work, initiate actions to improve the functioning of Earth Resources Regulation and train staff in other teams on new or changed procedures.

The position of Senior Advisor, Regulatory Strategy and risk is part of the Resources branch in the Rural and Regional Victoria group. The Rural and Regional Victoria Group works with councils, industry and businesses and primary produces to improve liveability and drive sustainable economic growth in rural and regional communities.
