Position Details

Senior Budget Analyst

  • Salary: $109,730 – $132,764 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Ongoing role, full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Senior Budget Analyst provides high quality analysis and strategic advice across all aspects of the department's portfolio budgets. The role is also responsible for the management of core budget and financial data and systems, and analysis of complex budget issues associated with the department and its portfolio agencies.

The responsibilities of the Senior Budget Analyst will include:

  • Assisting with the active management of the portfolio budget in accordance with the requirements of the Victorian Resource Management Framework.
  • Coordinating and supporting the development of the department's annual State Budget Submission.
  • Actively participating in the implementation of new budget and reporting frameworks, including the identification of implementation risks and development of strategies to address them.

The Team

The position of Senior Budget Analyst forms a part of the Finance, Investment and Procurement branch within the Corporate Services group.

The Corporate Services group works to build a safe, high-performing organisation where DJSIR people are supported to perform at their best. The Finance, Investment and Procurement branch works collaboratively with the department to deliver strategic advice and robust analysis on financial investment performance and procurement matters, to enable an efficient allocation of resources and deliver value for money across finance and procurement activities.  

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Specialist/Technical Experience: Excellent financial skills and demonstrated experience in budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Conceptual and analytical ability: Deals with concepts and complexity comfortably; Be able to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Project management: Strategic planning and demonstrated experience in project management related to developing and implementing finance and budget related system or framework.
