Position Details

Technical Manager, CarbonNet

The CarbonNet Project is jointly funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments.  CarbonNet has progressed an extensive programme of feasibility investigations across a wide range of areas since 2010.  The project has progressed to Stage 3 – Project Development and Commercial Establishment which will involve the delivery of an offshore Geological Appraisal program at the Pelican site in Bass Strait, and commercialisation activities to ready the Project for transition to the Private Sector.

The Technical Manager, CarbonNet is responsible for managing the interfaces for CO2 source and capture options with industry, and integrate elements across the full CO2 capture, transport and storage supply chain as the CarbonNet Project prepares to transition to the private sector at the end of Stage 3.

Reporting to the Project Director, CarbonNet, you will lead the development of all technical aspects of the upstream elements of the CarbonNet Project.  This includes integration with the commercialisation plan for CarbonNet to be led by the Project Director with the support of the department's investment facilitation.  Working collaboratively with the department's investment facilitation and commercial areas and you will be responsible for procuring and managing the delivery of a number of work packages that will investigate CO2 source and capture options.

Holding a tertiary qualification in engineering, you will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying specialist and detailed technical expertise in the development and implementation of major infrastructure projects through feasibility, design and/or construction development phases in the power generation, oil and gas processing, hydrogen and/or carbon capture sectors.  With significant experience working at a senior level in leading, planning and managing the delivery of key major programs and projects, you will have demonstrated ability to manage priorities, resources and budgets.
