The Engagement Officer will assist with the development and implementation of effective strategic communications, media and stakeholder engagement services within the Office of the Latrobe Valley Mine Rehabilitation Commissioner (LVMRC), to support the Commissioner's priorities and objectives.

The Latrobe Valley Mine Rehabilitation Commissioner is responsible for overseeing and coordinating improvements in rehabilitation planning for the Latrobe Valley coal mines. In particular, the Commissioner will work with a range of stakeholders to better ensure that appropriate rehabilitation outcomes are achieved.

Key accountabilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of communications, media and stakeholder engagement activities for mine rehabilitation planning projects, programs and initiatives in Latrobe Valley, and when necessary crisis management communications.
  • Assist with stakeholder research projects to evaluate the effectiveness of engagement and communications plans and activities (including media relations and advertising, web content and publications) to measure both internal and external stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Support the monitoring of the performance of regional communications, media and stakeholder engagement outputs against LVMRC strategic priorities and objectives.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders including Latrobe Valley Regional Rehabilitation Strategy project staff and advisory committee members to ensure alignment of communications, media and stakeholder engagement activities.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience in stakeholder and community engagement, events organising, media networks and communications and/or similar field.
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative, effectively supporting deliverables on regional communications, media and stakeholder engagement expectations.
  • Ability to look for continuous improvement opportunities and ways to innovate in regional communications, media and stakeholder engagement delivery.
