The Senior Policy Analyst will play a key role in supporting the operations of the Rural Assistance Commissioner and leading policy work related to rural assistance development and delivery in Victoria.  This role involves –

  • providing advice relating to rural assistance programs and frameworks in Victoria;
  • undertaking complex assessments and preparing high-level briefings, research papers and correspondence;
  • establishing networks and developing strategies to consult with and build support among key internal and external stakeholders;
  • representing DEDJTR and the Rural Assistance Commissioner at key forums, with stakeholders, and at meetings;
  • providing operational support for the office of the Rural Assistance Commisioner; and
  • leading and participating in team projects.

For appointment to this position, you will demonstrate skills in the following areas -

  • policy development and implementation;
  • preparation of written material, including briefings, submissions and reports;
  • consultation, negotiation, and communication and interpersonal skills;
  • stakeholder management; and
  • strategic, analytical and conceptual skills.

The position of Senior Policy Analyst is part of the Agriculture Victoria Division's Agriculture Policy Branch in the Employment, Investment and Trade Group.

The Employment, Investment and Trade Group delivers programs and services to grow the Victorian economy.  Its focus is on creating jobs and raising incomes through industry development, targeted investment and increasing the export value of Victorian firms.
