Position Details

Project Officer, Forest Biosecurity

  • $59,080 to $80,987 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed Term 3 years

The position of Project Officer, Forest Biosecurity forms a part of the Agriculture Victoria Division within Employment, Investment and Trade Group.

Agriculture Victoria works with industry and community stakeholders to support the agriculture, food and fibre sector to become more globally competitive, innovative and resilient.

The position of Project Officer, Forest Biosecurity within the Chief Plant Health Officer Unit is responsible for assisting in activities involved with forest and amenity plant surveillance and management, provision of technical advice to a range of stakeholders and assisting with the delivery of biosecurity programs for the forest sector.

Under the direction of the Project Officer, Forest Surveillance the position liaises and collaborates with staff from Biosecurity and Agriculture Services and forest agencies (within DEDJTR as well as other State and private forestry interests) to protect Victoria's private, public and amenity forest sectors from exotic pests and diseases.

To be successful in this role you will have an appropriate tertiary qualification in Science or an equivalent science qualification along with a good understanding of Victorian forests and forestry industries, including state forests, national parks and commercial plantation forestry. Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to liaise and communicate effectively with stakeholders are vital to the role.
