Position Details

Senior Project Officer, Domestic Quarantine

  • $95,275 – $115,276 Plus Superannuation (from 1 January 2019)
  • Fixed Term 2 years 
  • Usual hours of work: FULL TIME (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: ATTWOOD (flexibility may be available)

The position of Senior Project Officer, Domestic Quarantine forms a part of the Agriculture Victoria division, Biosecurity and Agriculture Services branch within the Employment, Investment and Trade group.

The Senior Project Officer, Domestic Quarantine, provides authoritative advice to the Manager - Domestic Quarantine, Chief Plant Health Officer, Director Biosecurity Operations and the Biosecurity Directorate on the administration and development of market access programs delivered to support Victorian and interstate plant industries. The position has a sound understanding of quality assurance and risk management principles.

The role provides advice to industry stakeholders and interstate government agencies on market access, plant protection and the safe and correct use of agricultural chemicals. The position may also be required to participate on relevant national committees, providing advice and support to national response programs.

You will work closely with the Chief Plant Health Officer Unit and Legislation and Policy teams across the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources (DEDJTR), and with regional and state-wide biosecurity officers, in market access protocol development, legislative design and safe chemical use.

Biosecurity staff in DEDJTR play a major role in supporting Victoria's fire and flood emergency response activities, biosecurity incursions and compliance actions.  Staff will be required to undertake activities to support an emergency response, necessitating a rapid change of work priorities.

Position Specific Requirements

This position has the following specific requirements:

  • Current Driver Licence
  • This position has a requirement to work shift work or out of hours work will be required that will involve evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel
  • This position has a requirement to travel
