Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Commercial Manager will provide strategic, commercial and policy advice to the complex bus services contract procurement projects within the broader BSRP. These projects range from negotiating smaller regional contracts through to the large-scale tender for MBF services, which is approximately 30 percent of the metropolitan Melbourne bus network (currently operated by Transdev).

Key elements of the role include input into the upfront commercial proposition including options analysis, preparation of market facing documentation, evaluation of operator submissions against agreed criteria, preparation of reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders. The successful applicant will have extensive commercial experience relevant to complex transport services procurement projects and the capability to interact equally adeptly with project level commercial, financial, legal and operational experts, as well as with senior stakeholders within the governance structure.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience providing commercial / strategic advice on complex commercial transactions ideally in the public transport or Government sector
  • Commercial acumen to advocate for project outcomes and allow the delivery of value for money solutions
  • Demonstrated capability in commercial assessment and policy development
