This position is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team in the Public and Administrative Law Unit within the Legal and Legislation Branch in the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions. The Department's role is to ensure Victoria's strong economic performance by growing industries and regions.

The Legal & Legislation Branch is responsible for providing legal and legislative advice and support on a broad range of matters across the Department.  The Legal and Legislation Branch is also responsible for delivering the Department's legislative program of bills, regulations and other statutory instruments.

The Senior Solicitor position will be responsible for managing a broad range of litigation matters on behalf of the Department, including merits and judicial review of statutory decisions. In the context of these matters, the Senior Solicitor will be responsible for coordinating these matters as well as briefing counsel and where necessary, external solicitors.

The Senior Solicitor will also be responsible for coordinating the Department's response to subpoenas as well as undertake a wide variety of work across the Public and Administrative Unit, with primary responsibility for Litigation.
