The Role

The Advisor plays a vital role in the Office of the Deputy Secretary, providing high quality administrative and policy support and coordinating cross-cutting activities across the Group and contributes to the delivery of internal and external priorities.

The responsibilities of the Advisor will include:

  • Providing high level administrative and executive support to the Deputy Secretary and Office of Deputy Secretary, including preparing and reviewing briefs, correspondence, reports and office priorities, and undertaking research and analysis on a wide range of complex matters.
  • Providing high level authoritative advice on complex and sensitive issues to senior management and key stakeholders
  • Managing group-wide coordination of PPQs and other Department, Parliamentary and Ministerial requests, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent responses.

The Team

The position of Advisor forms a part of the Office of the Deputy Secretary in the Industry, Trade and Investment group.

The Industry, Trade and Investment group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. We champion Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and international investment, international education and innovation.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple activities or projects simultaneously and collaboratively, with a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting briefings, internal newsletters, meeting notes or other communications in a government or complex organisational setting.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, exercising sound judgement, professionalism and discretion.
