Senior Finance Officer

  • Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed term up to 31 July 2026
  • Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)

The Role

The Senior Finance Officer supports the budget and finance operations of Industry, Trade, and Investment group. 

The Senior Finance Officer will manage the development, implementation and delivery of divisional financial planning, reporting and monitoring systems, processes and information. This role will also be responsible for providing efficient Procurement and Human Resources, Workforce Planning & Reporting support across the divisions to enhance the divisional capability. 

Main accountabilities:

  • Manage the development of divisional and branch level budgets and maintain budget management tools, systems and reporting arrangements which meet the needs of the divisions and the Department.
  • Provide effective leadership in budget, financial analysis, forecasting and reporting with emphasis on implementing solutions that address financial management compliance and acquittal obligations.
  • Lead the development and preparation of monthly management reporting and end of year processes to Executive Management, including preparation of journals, branch reporting, divisional reporting, financial review and variance analysis and reconciliations.
  • Manage and support the procurement requirements by providing specialist advice on operational planning and execution for procurement activities across the divisions.

The Team

The position of Senior Finance Officer forms a part of the Industry, Trade and Investment Services Branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment Group. 

The Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. ITI harnesses specialist knowledge of key industries and global markets to develop Victoria's priority sectors, boost trade activities, enhance productivity and contribute to economic growth.

About You

You will use your extensive experience with budget and financial management in large complex organisations, including knowledge of financial system Oracle, to achieve the objectives of the Branch. Use your ability to plan and organise priorities, utilising resources and identifying actual and potential barriers to reaching the objectives of the Branch.
