Position Details

Senior Research Scientist

  • $96,942 - $117,293 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed Term – 3 years 
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: Horsham (flexibility may be available)

The position of Senior Research Scientist forms a part of the Agriculture Victoria Research branch within the Agriculture Victoria group.

The Senior Research Scientist – Cropping Systems Modelling will have expertise in the development and use of models describing natural and human processes affecting agricultural landscapes. The incumbent will design and implement methodologies to improve the analysis of large, geographically dispersed datasets of variable quality primarily using agriculture-related computer-based models. This will also include acquiring knowledge through field experimentation and possibly developing specialised software to incorporate data and research results into different modelling frameworks.

Reporting to the Senior Research Scientist, the incumbent will possess extensive experience in agricultural/natural resources management, a quantitative approach to agricultural management and production, existing computer applications and software, and computer programming skills. In addition to a capacity for quantitative analysis, the successful candidate will possess an ability to model individual components of agricultural and link them to provide information related to agricultural and landscape management

A Bachelor or Science degree or an equivalent qualification in Crop modelling, Biology, Agriculture, Animal or Plant Science, Computer Science or Bioinformatics is mandatory.
